Homeschool Black Naturalist Series at Northern Regional Recreation Center
Homeschooled children are invited to discover nature while highlighting Black and brown communities. From the past to the present, from international to local, come relearn nature to include all colors of life. This series is available in two groups: kids ages 5 to 8 years old, and kids ages 9 to 13 years old.

Black History-inspired Sip and Paint at Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center
Seniors are invited to join a painting class where they will create a Black history-inspired piece on canvas, under the guidance of an experienced artist.

The Homage Exhibit at First Ward Park
The “Homage Exhibit” is a traveling collection of more than 650 original artifacts, documents and art showcasing the vast African American experience. The exhibit is owned by Charlotte residents Nia and Morris McAdoo, who have been collecting these items for more than 20 years. It features works by artists such as Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett, alongside original documents from Frederick Douglass, Shirley Chisholm, Booker T. Washington, Ralph Bunche and more.

Community Event at Amay James Recreation Center
Amay James Recreation Center will host a community event on Feb. 17 to highlight the rich history and contributions of Black Americans, and contributions to the community within Charlotte’s west corridor.
