County Adjusts Hours for Services and Facilities

Due to inclement weather from Tropical Storm Ian, a number of Mecklenburg County services and facilities have adjusted hours on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1.

Solid Waste has closed all full-service Solid Waste Centers and the Foxhole landfill on Friday, Sept. 30. The centers will re-open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, barring unexpected situations from the storm.

Park and Recreation closed all park gates by noon on Friday, Sept. 30. All parks and facilities will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, except facilities scheduled to open at a later time. All other facilities will operate on normal business hours. Some locations could have delays due to weather-related impacts. Visit ParkandRec.com for additional details.

All recreation center youth sports leagues are canceled through the weekend. For further information, call the youth sports hotline at 704-432-3834. All grass fields will be closed through Sunday. Synthetic fields will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Please reach out to your event organizer for any scheduling updates.

McDowell Campground will be closed on Saturday and all nature center programming has been canceled for Saturday.

Department of Social Services hotlines continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577). 
CharMeck 311 and 911 emergency services remain active.

CharMeck 311 is operating on a normal schedule Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., and has extended operating hours to Saturday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Outside those hours, callers can report water, sewer, stormwater and animal issues via an automated service that dispatches assistance. Many service requests can be made online, 24/7. Please call 911 for any emergencies.
