County Announces Holiday Closings

Mecklenburg County offices and services will be closed on the following days for the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays: Dec. 24, 25 and 26, 2024 and Jan. 1, 2025.

This includes all units of:

  • DSS Child, Family, and Adult Services*
  • Department of Community Resources
    • Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Center
    • Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center
  • Public Health
  • Elections Office
  • Tax Office
  • Register of Deeds Office
  • Land Use and Environmental Services Agency

Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Centers**  

  • Early closing Dec. 24 at 1 p.m.  (Open 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
  • Closed Dec. 25  
  • Regular Hours Dec. 26 (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
  • Closed Jan. 1.  

Park and Recreation:  

  • All Recreation and Senior Centers – Closed Dec. 24 - 26, 2024. On Dec. 31, sites will close early, at 6 p.m., and remain closed on Jan. 1, 2025.
  • Indoor Aquatic Facilities – Closed Dec. 24 - 26, 2024. On Dec. 31, sites will close early, at 6 p.m., and remain closed on Jan. 1, 2025.
  • Nature Centers – Closed Dec. 24 - 26, 2024, and Jan. 1, 2025.  
  • Parks – Open
  • Seasonal Pools, Spraygrounds and Beach – Closed for the season

*DSS Child, Family, and Adult Services: Hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect, or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).  

**Solid Waste: The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County towns may provide residential collection service. Residents should check their respective collectors’ websites for details.

CharMeck 311 holiday hours vary. Check the website for more information. Outside regular business hours, CharMeck 311 callers can report water, sewer, stormwater, and animal issues via an automated service that dispatches assistance. Residents can also submit service requests online 24 hours a day or access dozens of city services by downloading the CLT+ mobile app or on the city website. Please call 911 for any emergencies.
