EAST: Residents Invited to Learn About Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Eastside Resources and Investments

Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents are invited to learn more about activities, current resources, and future investments on the east side of town in this year’s Intergovernmental Eastside Summit and Mobile Resource Fair.

The theme of this year’s Eastside Summit is EAST: Education, Affordable Housing, Supporting Services, and Transit. The summit will offer residents an opportunity to learn about available resources, engage with local leaders and receive updates on development and transit. Among Mecklenburg County’s projects on the east side is the new 4.5-acre Eastland Park on the site of the former Eastland Mall, with construction expected to begin this summer. 

Mobile Resource Fair: Attendees will have access to various government and nonprofit resources, including Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s Mobile Internet Lab, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ Gus the Bus, MeckDental Mobile Unit, and Atrium Health’s Mobile Medical Unit. 

The Eastside Summit is hosted by Mark Jerrell, chair of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners; Stephanie Sneed, chair of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education; and Dante Anderson, mayor pro tem of the Charlotte City Council. 

Anyone interested in attending the Eastside Summit is asked to register online. Breakfast will be served. Registration is not required for the Mobile Resource Fair.
