Enderly Park Reopens with New Ways to Play
Enderly Park is scheduled to re-open Saturday, April 1, 2023. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation (MCPR) and residents are hosting a community event from 11 a.m. — 2 p.m.
Upgrades to the park include renovating the basketball courts and tennis court, converting one tennis court to 2 pickleball courts, adding a new shelter, creating an overlook, new play and exercise equipment, a new dog park, an upgraded walking path and new benches, picnic tables and landscaping throughout the park.
“Providing new opportunities to play and take care of our public spaces is an important opportunity to continue creating community connections,” said MCPR Director Lee Jones.
Located at 1501 Enderly Road in Charlotte, Enderly Park was renovated through the Board of County Commissioners’ equity initiative. Meck Playbook, Mecklenburg County’s master plan, did an assessment of every park and recreation facility in the County and ranked them “A” through “F.” Those facilities that ranked a “D” or “F” tended to be in more historically underserved parts of the County and areas Meck Playbook identifies as priority communities. Seeing that there were numerous parks in need of attention, the Board of County Commissioners decided to provide funding in Fiscal Year 2021-2022 to start renovation projects on some of the low-ranking facilities.
Mecklenburg County’s park system includes more than 230 park and recreation facilities, including parks, recreation centers, nature preserves, stadiums, camping areas, greenways, multi-use greenway trails and nature preserve land.
