Families Invited to Community Resource Fair

Learn about education, health, and nutrition resources at the Ella. B. Scarborough Community Resource Center  

Parents, guardians, and community members are invited to learn about Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and services offered at the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center (430 Stitt Road, Charlotte) during a resource fair on Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

This free event will showcase community resources that help families thrive. This includes the wide range of health and human services available at the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center. Under one roof, attendees can access employment assistance, veterans services, nutrition assistance, health services, housing security and more.  

Attendees can also learn about the MECK Pre-K program, which offers eligible four-year-olds a high-quality education at no cost to families. Classrooms are located in licensed child development centers and taught by licensed teachers and highly qualified assistant teachers. MECK Pre-K is administered by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and funded by Mecklenburg County.

Smart Start of Mecklenburg County will also have information about the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and The Basics Mecklenburg – parenting resources for children from birth to age three.  

PNC Bank will have their Mobile Learning Truck set-up outside with pop-up activity stations for children. Food trucks will also be available.
