Let the Clean Air Games Begin!
Mecklenburg County Air Quality, Sustain Charlotte and Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) are teaming up for a healthier community. Together they are encouraging everyone who lives, works or recreates in Mecklenburg County and surrounding counties to reduce air pollution with the Clean Air Games. You can make a difference, improve air quality, and possibly win a prize.
The way to compete in the Clean Air Games is to reduce single-occupancy car trips. Enter each day you carpool, bike, walk, or pack a lunch. The less you use a car, the less air pollution you produce. The more trips you skip, the more chances of winning.
“There are no qualifying heats for the Clean Air Games, anyone who skips even one solo car trip has a chance to win. Together we can improve air quality by reducing ozone-forming pollution,” said Air Quality Director Leslie Rhodes.
There are weekly prizes, as well as overall prizes of Gold, Silver and Bronze. Winners will be announced weekly from the start of the contest Monday, June 24 to the finish Friday, July 26. The Gold prize is an electric scooter and helmet. The Silver prize is a pair of Charlotte FC game tickets. The Bronze prize is a portable volleyball set. Complete the entry form to get started.
