Making Mental Health a Priority: Mecklenburg County Seeks Partner for Behavioral Health Services

Mecklenburg County is recruiting one to two partners to provide outpatient mental and behavioral health services. The services are part of the implementation of Mecklenburg County’s Behavioral Health Strategic Plan, which was published in 2024 following engagement with providers, stakeholders, partners, and community members dedicated to improving mental health care.
The vendor partner or partners will provide clinically qualified staff at Mecklenburg County’s Community Resource Centers in north and west Charlotte, and potentially other sites. They will deliver short-term care for clients and arrange for longer-term and enhanced care when needed. The partner would be expected to provide services on-site during business hours and be available to help clients after hours via phone or virtually. They would serve Mecklenburg County residents over the age of five who may be experiencing any range of life stressors and mental or behavioral health challenges.
Prospective vendors can view the Request for Proposals (RFP) at the MeckProcure portal, along with additional information on submitting a proposal. The deadline for submitting a proposal is July 7, 2025.

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners has made health equity and wellness, including
behavioral health, a priority and recognizes that mental health is a primary concern for residents across the County.
“We know that individuals face challenges when seeking crucial support at various entry points to the system,” said County Manager Dena R. Diorio upon introducing the Behavioral Health Strategic Plan. “To address these issues, the County endeavors to improve access, enhance the quality of care, and foster better coordination across the landscape of behavioral health providers. The over-arching goal of the strategic plan is a future where mental health is prioritized, stigma is addressed, and resources are accessible to all residents.”
