Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will host additional community workshops in February and March, giving residents even more opportunities to provide input on the next phase of the Meck Playbook master plan

Four new sessions will build on strong turnout at two previous workshops and continued interest from residents to inform the next five years of the master plan. Workshops will be located across the county and available online to accommodate various needs and schedules.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for one workshop. Each workshop will include the same information and match the information shared at the previous workshops.

What is the Meck Playbook update?

Park and Recreation is updating Meck Playbook, a 10-year master plan that Mecklenburg County adopted in 2021. Meck Playbook sets the County’s vision for investing in parks, nature centers, recreation centers, trails, environmental preservation and sustainability, programs, and staffing.

The master plan is entering its fifth year in 2026. This year’s Meck Playbook update will reflect on what has been accomplished toward Park and Recreation’s mission in the past five years and will revise the master plan’s recommendations for investments over the next five years.

Ongoing Input Opportunities

The County continues to accept input through an online community survey. Residents can complete the survey and share which Park and Recreation open spaces, facilities and programs they use and love.

In addition to the community survey, a statistically valid survey is underway to thoroughly gauge the needs and preferences of residents and neighborhoods.

Park and Recreation staff will also attend pop-up community events throughout the county this spring to share more information about the Meck Playbook update.
