MECK Pre-K Registration Opens for 2025-2026 School Year

Registration is now open for the 2025-2026 school year at MECK Pre-K, a free, high-quality pre-K program for all four-year-olds in Mecklenburg County, available at no cost to families. Families can secure their spot at MECKPreK.org today.
Since its launch in 2018, MECK Pre-K has helped thousands of children build strong foundations for their educational journey. Now, families from the program’s inaugural year are reflecting on its impact as their children prepare for middle school.
One parent, Tera Keene-WizzArt, shares how MECK Pre-K set her daughter Kinsey on a path to success: "The learning was interactive. They did a lot of reading. Reading time was very important. They made it fun for them. The teachers were nice and warm. They were inviting. You could tell that they cared for the students. MECK Pre-K seemed to make her journey a little easier for her to keep on going and thriving and progressing throughout life.”
Another family, the Suttons, highlighted MECK Pre-K's lasting benefits for their son, Grant. “He's in the 94th percentile for his grade level,” says his father, Eric Sutton. “And I believe that's all due to the focus that he got from MECK Pre-K. I think it was the most beneficial thing that we [did]. I just can't say enough about MECK Pre-K. It's just awesome. It gave him his start.”
Grant’s mother, Tara Sutton, echoed these sentiments. “His language grew significantly over that year, and I think that was one of the biggest benefits that we saw,” she said. "I think that MECK Pre-K is a great resource for the people of the county."
