Mecklenburg County Manager Mike Bryant Recognized by Growing the Dream Committee of Charlotte
County Manager Mike Bryant was presented with the 2026 Growing the Dream Root Award at the 12th annual Growing the Dream Award luncheon, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, on Saturday, Jan. 17, as part of the 2026 Charlotte-Mecklenburg celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy.
Bryant was recognized for his leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts in advancing the wellbeing of Mecklenburg County residents, especially historically marginalized and vulnerable populations. The Root Award represents the foundation of leadership and guidance by a leader to impact the Black community. With this honor, Bryant joins a list of previous honorees that include David and Nicole Tepper of Tepper Sports, Advocate Health’s Eugene Woods, Marvin Ellison of Lowes, Kieth Cockrell of Bank of America, and former County Manager Dena R. Diorio who received the award in 2025 prior to her retirement.
The annual Growing the Dream Award Committee honors unsung heroes and community members who work to promote unity, diversity, and multiculturalism within our community, in a manner that improves the lives of our residents and honors the social justice legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
