Final Back-to-School Vaccination Clinics Span the County to Help Families

Used for 2023 budget cover

To make sure all students are fully vaccinated for school, Mecklenburg County Public Health and its partners are hosting their final school immunization clinics across the community on Saturday, Sept. 24. This is the final Big Shots Saturday, a series of school immunization clinics organized by Public Health.

“We understand family schedules can be busy, but it’s really important, now more than ever, that all children are up to date on their immunizations. These safe and highly effective vaccines are key for preventing infections like polio, measles, and mumps in our schools,” said Dr. Raynard Washington, director of Mecklenburg County Public Health.

North Carolina allows for a 30-day grace period for immunizations. Since the first day of school was Aug. 29, this will be the final large-scale opportunity for parents to make sure their children are immunized as required by North Carolina. Children who do not provide proof of the minimum required immunizations within 30 days may not be excluded from school.

Appointments are needed for your child to be immunized. Call 704-336-6500 to make an appointment.

Here is a list of the required immunizations for K- 12 students in North Carolina.
