'No Swimming' Advisory Lifted for Cove on Lake Davidson

Used for 2023 budget cover

A "No Swimming" advisory was lifted for a cove on Lake Davidson.

The "No Swimming" advisory was issued on July 8, 2022 after results from routine water quality monitoring revealed elevated bacteria levels in a cove on Lake Davidson. No bacteria source was identified. Elevated levels are likely associated with natural conditions and high temperatures that promote bacteria growth.

On July 9, 2022, laboratory results were received for water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services' staff revealing that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the No Swimming advisory has been lifted.
