Office of Economic Development Partners to Host Minority Enterprise Development Week

Used for 2023 budget cover

Since 1983, U.S. presidents have proclaimed a national Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week observance to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of minority business enterprises and honor those corporations and financial institutions supporting minority business development. This year’s MED Week theme is “Power in Capital – Strength in Equity”.

Charlotte MED Week, Oct. 10 – 13, is hosted by local supplier diversity groups and supported by private and civic organizations, as well as the business community.

The Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development will host hybrid educational sessions on Oct. 11 at the Valerie C. Woodard Center at 3205 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. These sessions will connect guests to subject-matter experts who will present topics like cybersecurity, access to capital, legal, and consumer protections. Mecklenburg County has invited partners from Thread Capital and Miles Enterprise Solutions to discuss capital and cybersecurity. The sessions are at no cost to guests.
