Public Input Wanted: Share Feedback On Community Hazards
Mecklenburg County is looking for your input on how natural hazards including flooding, hurricanes, and severe weather impact you and your neighbors. Mecklenburg County and incorporated communities are seeking public input as they update the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The plan proposes specific mitigation actions to eliminate or reduce identified vulnerabilities.
Residents are invited to share feedback on our communities’ risks from hazards, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement. There are two ways to share feedback:
- A virtual public meeting on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 5 p.m., where residents can learn about the plan update process, review the identified hazards, and provide input to the planning team. Register online to attend.
- This brief public survey, where residents can provide input on hazard risks and mitigation options.
This plan update is required for all communities to maintain eligibility for pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding from FEMA. This effort will also help our communities understand vulnerability and develop ways to proactively reduce risk.
