Solid Waste: Keeping Our Sewers Pollution Free
Mecklenburg County Solid Waste was recently recognized by Charlotte Water for their pollution prevention efforts at the Foxhole landfill.
During Charlotte Water’s annual awards banquet, the team was honored with its first ever Crown Award, presented for overall excellence for a large-scale industrial discharge system. The team also won a Platinum Award, which recognizes 100 percent compliance for preventing discharges to the sewer system from the Foxhole Landfill for at least five consecutive years.
The Foxhole landfill is primarily used for business and commercial disposal.
These achievements follow on the heels of Solid Waste also being recognized with a NCDEQ award, as well as recently opening a new materials recycling facility.
