Vital Records Closed Due to Natural Gas Odor

Updated: Mecklenburg County offices and facilities are operating normally as of July 15, 2022.

A number of Mecklenburg County offices and facilities have closed until further notice due to a heavy natural gas odor across much of the Charlotte area today:

• Vital Records, 618 N. College St.

• Register of Deeds, 720 E. Fourth St. 

  • Online record requests are available for marriage, divorce, birth and death certificates.

• Criminal Justice Services, 715 E. Fourth St.

• Southeast Health Department, 249 Billingsley Road

The Judge Clifton E. Johnson building, County and Courts Office Building (CCOB), and Mecklenburg County Courthouse remain open for operations.
