A  NO SWIM advisory was lifted today for a portion of Lake Norman (see map below).

The “No Swim” advisory was issued on Aug. 8, 2023, after a sewage spill into Lake Norman due to a power outage at a private lift station located at 21328 Nautique Blvd, Cornelius, NC. Repairs have been made and the discharge stopped.

On August 15, 2023, laboratory results were received for water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff revealing that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the NO SWIM advisory has been lifted.
