A no swimming advisory was lifted today for a cove on Lake Norman.

The “No Swimming” advisory was issued on May 28, 2023 after an estimated 460 gallons of sewage spilled into Lake Norman from a damaged pipe on Torrence Chapel Estates Circle. The damage was caused by a private contractor while performing horizontal drilling. The pipe has been repaired and the discharge discontinued.

On May 31, 2023, laboratory results were received for water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff revealing that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the no swimming advisory has been lifted.
