Oath of Office: Deputy Clerk Sworn in Before County Commissioners

Arlissa Eason was sworn in before a full meeting of County Commissioners on March 25, 2025. Her supervisor, Kristine Smith, Clerk to the Board, administered the oath. With right hand raised and left hand on a Bible held by her mother, Eason recited the oath that is required for her to perform all necessary duties in case the Clerk to the Board is unable to attend a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.

Mecklenburg County’s Deputy Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners took the oath of office on March 25, ensuring that she is legally authorized to carry out the duties of the Clerk to the Board upon her absence.

Eason has served as deputy clerk since 2022, alongside Smith.

The Clerk to the Board’s office works to provide Mecklenburg County residents with accessible and transparent government. The Clerk provides official notice of Board meetings, records meeting minutes and all official actions of the Board of County Commissioners, maintains the County’s ordinances, serves as custodian of the County seal, prepares and distributes meeting agendas, assists the public in registering to speak at Board meetings, administers the Board’s appointment process for advisory boards, archives and provides access to the Board’s permanent records, administers oaths of office and publishes public notices.
