Packing the Days: Summer Experience Fair Showcases Opportunities for Families

What will your kids do this summer? Mecklenburg County has plenty of ideas and is bringing them together under one roof. 

Mecklenburg County Child, Family, and Adult Services is hosting its 11th annual “Summer Experience Fair,” giving families an opportunity to explore options to keep busy this summer. It’s a time for children, teens, and parents to learn more about the summer camp and educational opportunities available this summer as well as seasonal employment. 

WHEN:  Saturday, April 6, 2024, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (drop-in) 

WHERE:  Valerie C. Woodard Center, 3205 Freedom Drive, Entrance D, Charlotte, NC 28208  

WHAT:  The Summer Experience Fair will have a little something for everyone: 

  • Summer day camp information for children and teens 
  • Free food and entertainment  
  • Representatives from Park and Recreation, YMCA, and other local low-cost camps 
  • Community and educational resources 
  • Onsite camp registration 
  • Financial assistance available 
  • Summer job information for teens and adults 
  • Outreach from the Charlotte Fire Department, including a fire engine and “Blaze the Fire Dog” 
  • Free Triple P parenting education workshop, Continuing Education Units provided 

All children must have adult supervision. Parents and guardians can apply for Mecklenburg County camp assistance (ID required).
