Park and Recreation Collecting Donations for Helene Recovery

To support those affected by Hurricane Helene, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is collecting donations at multiple locations across the county until Friday, Nov. 1. Accepted items include:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing, including dust masks, helmets, bandanas and work gloves
  • Rebuilding supplies and tools, including plastic tarps, nails, plywood, plastic buckets, shovels, rakes, boxes, barrels, and heavy-duty plastic bags
  • Cleaning items such as rags, mops, brooms, and scrub brushes
  • Bottled water and other packaged drinks  
  • First aid kits
  • Hygiene items, including soap, detergent, disinfectant, garbage bags, and hand sanitizer
  • Infant care items such as formula, diapers, and rash cream
  • Nonperishable, packaged food items and snacks
  • Electronic device chargers
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Linens such as bedding and pillows
  • New undergarments such as underwear or socks
  • Toys and books for children
