Statement from the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners on the death of Union County (NC) Board of Commissioners Chairman Stony Rushing

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, Chairman George Dunlap, and County Manager Dena R. Diorio, express their heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of Union County Board of Commissioners Chairman Stony Rushing who passed away unexpectedly yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023.

Chairman Rushing was a dedicated public servant in our area for many years, and was known for his stalwart commitment to Union County and its residents. He served his community and region with pride and will be missed by his many colleagues in county government around the state of North Carolina.
