William R. Davie Self Service Recycling Center Closes Temporarily for Construction and Expansion
The self-service recycling center at William R. Davie Park will close Sept. 10 through late 2024, as Mecklenburg County completes construction to expand the center.
When the project is complete, the expanded recycling center will be staffed, accept more types of recyclable materials, and feature new containers. Currently, the facility is not staffed. William R. Davie Park and the recycling center are located at 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte.
During this construction period, residents are encouraged to bring their recyclables to one of the other four self-service centers managed by Mecklenburg County.
- Innovation Barn Self Service Recycling Center at 932 Seigle Ave. in Charlotte
- McAlpine Creek Park Self Service Recycling Center at 8711 Monroe Road in Charlotte
- Park Road Park Self Service Recycling Center at 6220 Park Road in Charlotte
- Reedy Creek Park Self Service Recycling Center at 2900 Rocky River Road in Charlotte
These centers accept the same items accepted in curbside recycling carts, including aluminum and metal cans, cardboard, milk and juice cartons, glass bottles, paper, and plastic bottles and jugs. Residents can also visit any of the four full-service recycling centers to drop off these items and more.
The enhancement project is a joint effort by the Solid Waste and Recycling division of Mecklenburg County’s Land Use and Environmental Services Agency, and the Park and Recreation Department.
