    Nearly 100 community partners, leaders and students attended this year’s Opioid Settlement Fund Update meeting on Nov. 7.
  6. Five-Year Milestone: Three Commissioners Recognized with Service Pins

    At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Nov. 8, 2023, County Manager Dena R. Diorio presented Vice Chair Elaine Powell, Commissioner Mark Jerrell, and Commissioner Susan Rodriguez-McDowell with their five-year service pins. All Mecklenburg County employees who reach their five-year mark are awarded a service pin to celebrate the milestone, including County Commissioners.
  7. Operation Green Light: Shine a Light in Support of Veterans on Nov. 11

    Saturday, Nov. 11 is a day to honor veterans who have served and their families. To demonstrate its support on Veterans Day, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community is asked to shine a green light at home, while the Charlotte skyline is illuminated in green. It’s Operation Green Light, a national initiative to support military veterans, and raise awareness of their unique challenges and resources available from Mecklenburg County Veterans Services and other local, state and national partners.

    Most Mecklenburg County offices and services will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, for Veterans Day. 
  9. The HOMES Program is Helping Mecklenburg County Homeowners Deadline Extended Through Dec. 15

    Applications for the HOMES Program have been coming in and so far, thousands have benefitted from the support.  The program provides economic assistance grants of up to $660 for qualifying homeowners.
