Daimler Truck Financial Services Picks Charlotte for North American Headquarters, Creating 276 Jobs

Daimler Truck Financial Services USA LLC (DTFS), a finance provider for Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), has selected Charlotte as the location for its North American headquarters, creating 276 jobs and investing more than $7 million in the city’s Ballantyne submarket.  

“We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area — this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth,” said Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.

Jobs include executive leadership, management, finance planning, finance operations, information technology, sales and human resources, with an average salary of nearly $134,000. Of the total jobs, 83 will transfer from other locations and 193 will be newly created in Charlotte.

The company’s new home will be at the 10-story Boyle Building, located at 13034 Ballantyne Corporate Place. 

“Daimler Truck Financial Services’ choice to locate its headquarters in Mecklenburg County reinforces our position as a hub for high-paying jobs and forward-looking industries,” said Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell. “These types of investments strengthen our local economy and provide valuable career growth opportunities to our residents."

Charlotte is the second largest finance center in the United States. Bank of America and Truist Financial are headquartered here, and Wells Fargo and Ally Bank maintain large employment hubs in Charlotte. The region boasts more than 104,000 people in the financial services sector, positioning it as a magnet for top-tier financial and corporate operations.

DTFS provides financing and leasing solutions for Daimler Truck North America, one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in the world that produces Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks and Thomas Built Buses. For more than 50 years, the company has offered custom financing, leasing, and insurance options for its commercial vehicle customers that include owner-operators, fleet owners, and municipalities. DTFS’s new headquarters in North Carolina will consolidate the current offices from Michigan and Texas into 60,000 square feet for its administration, HR and financial operations.  

Daimler Truck has a significant presence in the Charlotte region, including operations in Cleveland, Mount Holly, Gastonia, and Fort Mill, South Carolina.

This project was a collaborative effort between Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, NC Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions and the North Carolina Community College System.

During the past 12 months, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte have collaborated on several economic development projects to support relocations and expansions, including groninger USA, RXO and AVL Manufacturing. With today’s announcement from Daimler Truck Financial Services, these efforts have resulted in more than $170 million in capital investment and created 1,112 new jobs in the city.
