  1. Veterans Benefits Live: Three-Day Open House to Offer In-Person Support to Vets

    Mecklenburg County Veterans Services and other partners are sponsoring Veterans Benefits Live: VA in My Town: Mecklenburg County. Aug. 22-24, the single-stop open house will help veterans and their families or caregivers navigate the many services available to them. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other partners will help attendees one-on-one with their benefits, claims, appeals and other concerns.  

  2. ​2024 Property Tax Bills Will Be Mailed by July 31

    Mecklenburg County will mail 2024 bills for real property, individual personal property, and business personal property taxes by July 31, 2024. Bills are due Sept. 1, 2024, and must be paid by Jan. 6, 2025, to avoid interest.  

  3. Tax Collector Neal Dixon Retiring

    Neal Dixon, Tax Collector for Mecklenburg County, will be retiring at the end of July. After serving the County for nearly 30 years, Neal has been an invaluable part of countless projects and will leave an enduring legacy.  

  4. County CFO David Boyd Wins Government CFO of the Year Award from Charlotte Business Journal

    The Charlotte Business Journal (CBJ) has named Mecklenburg County’s chief financial officer, David Boyd, the 2024 Chief Financial Officer of the Year for a Civic/Government Organization. Boyd was honored at CBJ’s 2024 CFO of the Year Awards ceremony on Thursday, July 18.  

  5. Mecklenburg County Public Information Earns Awards of Excellence

    Mecklenburg County has been recognized with eight 2024 Achievement Awards from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO). NACIO honors the innovative, creative and outstanding work of county government communicators throughout the nation.  

  6. HOMES Program Returns to Help Mecklenburg County Homeowners 

    The Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support (HOMES) Program returns for another season, which began July 1, 2024. Mecklenburg County is partnering again with the City of Charlotte to help homeowners struggling with the rising costs of living.

  7. Be a Battle Buddy: Veterans Services Promotes Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Training

    Many veterans return from their service carrying trauma. That is why Mecklenburg County Veterans Services is taking part in the North Carolina Governor’s Challenge, to prevent and reduce suicide among transitioning service members, veterans, and their families. Veterans in Mecklenburg County and across the state are invited to become a “Battle Buddy,” someone who ensures you are never alone. The N.C. Governor Challenge training is free and open to anyone in the community who wants to grow as an expert companion to service members, veterans, caregivers, and their families. 

  8. Keeping Cool: Resources Available July 16 and 17 During Period of Extreme Heat

    On Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17, additional resources will be available in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to help vulnerable residents cope with the extreme heat.

  9. Mecklenburg County Celebrates the 34th ADA Anniversary and Improved Access

    This July, Mecklenburg County will join government agencies across the country in celebrating the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  10. Keeping Cool: Additional Resources Available July 5 and 6 for Mecklenburg County Residents

    On Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6, additional resources will be available in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to help vulnerable residents beat the heat. Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office (CMEMO), and homeless service providers continue to work together to monitor the weather, support the needs of the community, and address needs that may arise due to the extreme heat.
